Dear “Donor”,
I’m sure you are aware of the important role scholarships play in the education of our young men and women with today’s increasing college tuitions. With that in mind the Christopher H. Kerlin scholarship fund was created in the spring of 1992 after Chris lost his life in an automobile accident in October 1991. From the spring of 1992 to 2008 the scholarship fund awarded forty two hundred dollars to students within the Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District to help graduating student/athletes get one step closer to seeing their goal of going to college or trade school come true. In July of 2008 Chris’s cousin Brian “Snuff” Whitehill lost a yearlong battle with cancer and it was then decided with the blessing of the Whitehill family to add Brian’s name to the scholarship. That spring the scholarship was doubled to six hundred dollars with a total of nearly five thousand dollars being awarded in total.
The scholarship fund is supported largely by the generous donors who contribute to our annual golf outing. Whether it’s a cash donation, a door prize, or Chinese auction item these donations are what makes the Christopher H. Kerlin / Brian “Snuff” Whitehill scholarship fund possible. This year’s goal is to raise twenty-five hundred dollars, which will allow the fund to continue providing much needed money to those students who are planning a post secondary or technical school education. Without the continued support of our generous donors like you, these needs will likely go unmet.
By making a donation to our annual golf tournament, you’ll be directly contributing to helping a student/athlete, struggling, with the raising costs of a post secondary or technical education. In order to continue our monetary support, it is vital for this year’s golf tournament to be a success. Can we count on you to make a donation to this important cause?
